Well, I’m a 16 year old, and I’m in high school. I joined my school band as a flag girl. Well during the summer instead of being at home like every other kid was doing, I would wake up at 6 in the morning and learn to march with the band. We did this a for about a month or so until we started to learn drill. In case you don’t know what that is, it’s when we start to learn our spots for the show.

Now before I joined band I never did anything except go home and think. I would think about how I wanted things to be, people I would like to meet, and things like that. Well, I’m a huge John Lennon fan, and I always wanted to met someone who was a John Lennon fan as well, or someone who looked like him and someone who thought like me (I don’t think the way an average 16 year old should). But when you live in a city as small as mine it’s rare to find people like you. So I thought it would never happen.

But the first day of we learned drill I was near the percussion and I didn’t think much of it, I had a friend in percussion so I would look back and do funny faces and talk to him and just stuff like that. Well one of the times I looked back I saw this quad player who had a pair of glasses like John Lennon, and I pointed it out and said, “Hey, you have John Lennon glasses.” And he just looked at me and said, “Yeah I know.” I stayed looking at him because I thought he looked familiar but I couldn’t figure out who he was or who he looked like. So I turned around and thought about it. A couple of minutes later it hit me. He looked like John Lennon. No joke. So I turned around and told him, “Oh my gosh, you look like John Lennon!” And he just started laughing and said, “I get that a lot.” So I was freaking out about that for a while, and when I turned back around to tell him my name he had his quad down and he was wearing a John Lennon shirt, and I asked, “So you like John Lennon?” And he said “Yup. He’s cool.” So I just started to think about how I had finally met someone who looked and liked John Lennon. I thought it was just a coincidence so I didn’t think much of it.

Well, weeks went by and I didn’t think much of the guy anymore. I just thought it was cool I had met him. I didn’t think I would be talking to him or anything so I forgot about it. One day our band director tells us he thinks it would be fun if each section of band made their own little show. So we did. On the day of the performance I saw him, and I told my friend Brittany that I thought he looked like John Lennon, and she asked me what his real name was because she didn’t know who I was talking about. I didn’t know his name so I just pointed him out and she said, “Oh his name is Robert!” And I thought “Okay, I know his name but he doesn’t know mine.” I thought of ways to talk to him but I never did anything.

Then one night after an 8 hour practice I saw him hanging out with his friends, and my friends were near him so I went and talked to my friends and then they left and I went and started talking to him and his friends. It turns out he knew my name because he asked my friend in percussion, so he was going to start doing some magic tricks and he wanted me as an assistant so I agreed and he did some really awesome tricks. He read my mind and said the card I got without touching the deck. It was very cool. Then he asked if I had a ride and I told him I had not called my mom yet so he said, “Well, call her and see what’s up.” So I did and my mom was at my grandma’s house and she said it might take a while to be here. So I told her that was fine. Robert said he would stay with me and after a while everyone in band was gone and it was just us two hanging out and talking outside. He started asking me what was something I really wanted, and I told him I want my mom to be happy, and he got so shocked and said, “You’re cool! Most people would think about themselves first. I like that.” I didn’t think much of it. I just started laughing. The he said, “Okay, just think of your mom being happy and she will be.” Then he started explaining the Secret, but he didn’t tell me it was The Secret. I got really into it and started thinking about how I wanted my mom to be happy, and then a couple of weeks later she was smiling more then ever and I just didn’t think much of it. I thought it was cool but I didn’t think I had done that.

Well months past, I was on Myspace and he posted a quote from the book The Secret, and I asked him about it. It really got my attention, and he told me that it was a quote and he wanted me to read this book because I wouldn’t deny it and he knew I would use it. I was confused, and just agreed to read the book. A couple of days later he brings the book to school and tells me read it. So I did.

Now I can’t explain how happy I am that I turned around to talk to my friend while we were learning drill. If I hadn’t done that I would’ve never noticed Robert and he would’ve never showed me The Secret. I have done so much I never thought I could do just by thinking. I made money and I don’t have a job, I can make him call me just by imagining it (I do that one a lot, Hehe), and I can make my days better. I even got my cold to go away. I love The Secret more then anything.
