My fiance and I have had a horrible year and were both feeling very down, probably a little lost and didn’t quite know how to salvage our relationship. A friend then recommended The Secret to us….I was sceptical but my fiance, who prior to this year was one of the most positive people I know, encouraged me to give it a go.

I purchased two copies and within hours we were hooked. We couldn’t wait to go to bed at night to read some more and when we weren’t together we would be constantly texting to discuss our thoughts. After our turbulent year it actually started to feel like there was light at the end of the tunnel and we were oozing positivity and excitement. It really helped to bring us back together and give us some focus on what we wanted in life….and we decided to put it to the test!

We got engaged in New York City in 2010 therefore it has a special place in our hearts and we always talked of returning. My fiance is a huge Paul Weller fan so when we heard he was playing two concerts in NYC we knew we had to go. We booked our flights, hotel and concert tickets and started to make plans for our trip which was less than two weeks away.

I told my fiance we were going to meet Paul Weller in NYC, I said it would be on Saturday 19th May and it would be while we were watching the Champions League Final (Weller is a Chelsea fan hence my reasoning). We laughed and joked about this but continued to believe just like The Secret had taught us.

Paul Weller then announced that he would be doing an intimate gig at a fashion store and the only way to see it would be to win tickets….feeling positive I thought I would email the fashion designer, what had I to lose! To my amazement a member of his staff emailed back to say he would put myself and my fiance on the guest list! We were both on cloud nine….my fiance because he thought this would be his chance to meet Paul Weller and me because I was glad I had been able to arrange something special for my fiance in NYC as he had done for me on our previous visit. Ask, believe, receive!

We had an amazing time at the intimate gig but unfortunately didn’t get to met Paul Weller. I told my fiance not to lose hope as I was positive it would still happen. A series of events the next day left us running late for the concert that night however we now believe that we attracted them and they were meant to happen. We met a girl from Glasgow who weirdly worked in the same office as I did years before…she invited us to a bar after the concert which we kindly accepted. Here we met two of Paul Weller’s band members, Stevie Cradock and Ben Gordelier which was great in itself and moved on to another pub where we bumped into them again. They are lovely guys an great company. My fiance was over the moon again and I felt it was one step closer to attracting our wish.

The next day on our way to watch the Champions League Final I was feeling confident as we left the hotel. For some reason while walking to the pub I suggested we take a different route….this is where it all came true! We met Paul Weller as he was about to sit down and have lunch in a restaurant…..he couldn’t have been nicer and had a chat and my fiance had a picture taken with him. It was surreal but all our positive thoughts had attracted us to that spot. We could hardly speak to each other as we tried to digest the enormity of it all!

On our return home we have shared our story to the amazement of our family and friends. We have finished reading The Secret but have decided to read it all over again! We have created a visual board and are continuing to believe so I know that our lives together will continue to grow stronger and happier and it’s all thanks to Rhonda and The Secret, we can’t thank you enough.
