How The Secret found me
Submitted by: Jeannie
Vancouver, WAI'm a 52 year old bookkeeper. I have one son, currently serving in the Army in Iraq, a lovely daughter-in-law, and a beautiful 16 month old grandson. I have to feline roommates who bring joy to my life daily.
One day in early January, I saw the DVD of The Secret in a shop window. It caught my eye, but I didn’t go into the shop to look at it. I had overspent my budget during the holidays and wasn’t planning to buy anything for myself.
On January 9, I was fired from a job where I was unhappy. I checked my bank account, and had only $120. My son promised to send me a few hundred dollars as soon as he figured out how to get mail out of Iraq, so I had hope of paying my rent for February. I was determined to buy nothing that wasn’t absolutely necessary.
From the bank, I walked directly to the shop where I had seen The Secret. I went in just to look around. I read the front and back of the DVD case, put it back and explored the store. I found more copies of the DVD on another shelf, picked it up again and put it back. After I explored the rest of the store, I headed for the door but impulsively detoured back to the shelf displaying The Secret. I took a copy to the cashier, explained that I had just lost my job and didn’t want to buy anything, but I was intrigued by the DVD and could she tell me more about it. She told me it was no accident that I was attracted to The Secret DVD, and also no accident that I was fired from that particular job. I went home with my DVD and $90 in the bank.
Right after I watched the movie, I made a list of six things that I wanted. I received four of them within three weeks, including a new job that I love. The fifth request was that my son be granted a leave to come home for a visit. The army being what it is, that was a long shot. He will arrive next week on his leave.
Thank you so much for making this movie!
