How The Secret Changed My Prognosis!
I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma in July 2013 and was given good odds of overcoming my illness. However, following a course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy over the next 7 months, a PET scan in May 2014 confirmed my worst fears that the treatment had not worked.
Apparently, my cancer had survived the treatment as the cells were very strong and had quickly built up a resistance to the various drugs it had encountered. I was told in June that I was a problem case and my chances had reduced to a 25% survival rate! I was devastated!
I now needed further chemotherapy, stronger this time, followed by stem cell treatment. If this didn’t work, there was nothing else that could be done for me.
A friend of mine from work recommended I watched The Secret at the end of June. As my treatment was due to commence early July, I decided to watch it on the evening of 30th June. I remember the date well because it completely changed my outlook on everything: my illness, my outlook on life, everything!
I particularly remember the part that explains that “dis-ease” cannot survive in a body that is “at ease”. This really struck a chord with me. I wrote a list of everything I was grateful for and referred to it every day, and I still do! I thought about gratitude every day and if a negative thought started to enter my head I would immediately replace it with a positive thought.
Everyone noticed my change of heart and how much happier I was.
Following 2 sessions of chemo in July I had a PET scan to see how I had responded. You have to understand that my Dr. had warned me that the chemo was by no means a guarantee that I would be cured. In fact, he was very worried that the chemo would not make an impact at all. However, I was grateful for a complete remission every day until my PET scan.
1 week later I heard the magic words from my Dr.: Complete remission, total response!
I couldn’t believe my ears! Even the Dr. admitted his surprise!
I still have to undergo further treatment to ensure a permanent remission but understanding The Secret, I now know what I need to do. Further positive things have happened to me and my family since I started being grateful for everything, but the main thing is obviously my health!
Thank you to The Secret team, especially Rhonda Byrne. I am now in control of my life and intend to stay healthy and happy for the rest of it.
