This happened a while ago but I had really been wanting to share this story with everyone and right now is the time.

I decided to pursue Law, and in my country, there are these top 10 national law universities, that every law aspirant wants to go to. I particularly wanted the one in Gujarat, which was ranked 5. Every time I mentioned acing the exam, I always thought of that dream university. I worked hard, and I studied with passion. Every time I took a little break after studying, I used to visualize myself sitting in one of the classrooms there, sitting with other students. My phone literally had the college campus as its wallpaper. Honestly, I did not have any attachments to it, all I can say is that it made me happy.

I wrote the paper, and I did score well. The examination committee releases 4 cut off lists stating the college’s everyone gets allotted based on merit. And then, based on vacancies, students also get upgraded to higher-ranked colleges. I was sad when the first list of college cut-offs was released and my name was on a lower-ranked NLU’s list. However, I did not lose hope. Not at all. I had imbibed The Secret, word for word, and I knew that I had to be happy, no matter what. So much so, that I went to my favorite dessert shop to celebrate. This was the first thing that I wanted to do, upon getting to know that I have gotten into my dream college.

Then, they released the second cut off list, wherein I magically got upgraded to the college ranked 6. I started believing that there were chances that my dream college would manifest. I happily waited for the third list. However, I could not get through the dream college on that list. I did not lose hope. I still went to the pastry shop to celebrate and revel in whatever there was. The fourth list too came out, and it seemed that my dream college was just meant to be a dream only.

However, and this is interesting, I still felt really happy with what I had, and I made peace with the fact that whatever college that I get into was a huge opportunity for me to experience growth and happiness. I simply let it go.

That particular night, the examination committee released a notice stating that the fourth list was incorrect and that they would be releasing a rectified list the next day. I was fine and literally had no expectations. I went about the day feeling good and not thinking about it. I even forgot that a new list was to be released. It was not until 1 pm, that I just decided to check my phone as I had missed calls from friends. I then thought that I might as well just check the rectified list.

I opened it, and bam! Only three people had been upgraded to my dream college, the last one being me! I don’t even know if I showed any kind of reaction because somehow it felt normal as if it had always been there.

Yes! I got into my dream college. Little did I know that the Universe had moved people and circumstances to manifest my desire in the most magical way.

All I wanna say is to learn to ‘let go’ and be happy with whatever you have. Everything and anything is possible, you just take what the universe gives you and trust in it. It always has your back. Sometimes, and I feel this is an important aspect that I have learned, you might wanna question why the Universe is taking a long time to bring your desires to you, but trust me on this, the Universe cares for your well-being and happiness, and it will give  you the best at the best time when  you are prepared for it. Never doubt this. Just trust, and find happiness in the smallest of things. I think even when I did not have my dream college, I just felt happy seeing pictures of it, and going to my dessert places to enjoy life.
