Holding On To Faith

JamaicaA 30 something young lady who is trying to build her faith in God.
Your book finds me in October 2011 at a time in my life when I was ready for change. My life was so stagnant and God and I were in a love hate relationship.
Based on the book I made a list of my wishes that were most important to me, to say some of those dreams came through is an understatement ! It was not that it came through, but the spectacular way in which it happen, but thatâs a story I will share another time.
Today I would like to share the story of my dream home. Okay, so on this wish list is my dream home. I wrote it because I know I intend to. Well 6 months later our national housing solution put up housing lots for sale. I knew I stand a chance for the young professionals’ category since I have been working for over 16 years. Well I decided to try my luck even though I know I could barely pay the deposit of about US $6,000 on the cheapest lots. And this was through the use of loans which would have affected me in the long term. Any way I prayed and visualized me living in my dream house at the location. Strangest thing though is that whenever I visualized I would grin uncontrollable like an idiot. To tell the truth it was scary.
Unfortunately in September when the result was published I did not make the list. I was sad but I always believed that when there is disappointment there is something better coming. So I hold on to that and was curious as to what better would come. Anyway I started searching everywhere for land to buy. In Jamaica it is always cheaper and better to build from scratch. I got some good leads and I realized that my options were many and varied so I relaxed and even told my mom I was not worried, I will get my land when the time is right.
At the end of January I get one of the most spectacular calls. It was from an agent saying that some people had failed to qualify for the lots and they were re-selecting candidates and my name came up and was asking if I was still interested.
To which I reply yes!!
To make a long story short, I qualified for the lot but here is where I was shocked. I qualified for a bigger lot which would normally attracts a US $11,000 deposit but I only had to pay US $3,000 as the government had increased the amount I am allowed to borrow by 60%. And it just keeps getting better and better. Turns out I had the cash for the deposit, did not need a loan and had surplus to start the building. I am getting a lower interest rate on my mortgage. To top it off, due to a divine “mistake” I over payed my deposit which helped to ensure that I pay less than US $150 per month for my mortgage!
I know my home of 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom kitchen and living room will be finish within 16 months. All the cash I need will come at the right time and I will be stress free and happy throughout. I know now that I must focus on the finished product not the process. So am visualizing this everyday!
So people, if your dreams or wishes don’t come through same time, don’t worry, something better is on the way!!! Just ask God, believe and thank him every chance you get, even when things seem not to be going the way you want them to! Thank you God! Thank you Rhonda! Thank you guys for sharing your stories, they give me hope!
Oh yes I do have more faith in God now!
