Happy Home Owner!

3 years ago I randomly bought the book The Secret at the book store. It was odd because I usually buy sci-fi and I didn’t even read the cover. I just wandered over to that aisle like a robot, picked it up and went straight to the register. When I got home I read it straight through without even glancing at my other books. It made perfect sense to me. It was something I knew all all along but had struggled to put into words. In one of the darkest times of my life I had even written on a piece of paper “stay positive and activate your future” and I still carry it in my wallet. But that was almost a decade before I ever read this book! It gave me great faith and direction to read The Secret. I put it to work immediately and asked the universe for my biggest desire, to be a home owner.
At the time I was barely scrapping by. I had a car repossessed a couple years prior and so I couldn’t get a loan for even a picture of a house! 🙂
None of that mattered. I was going to own my own home. I imagined myself painting my new walls, unpacking, waking up and making breakfast there. I bought a new key ring for my soon to be house keys. I helped my best friend buy and move into his own house. I was so happy for him! Happy like it was me and my house. Then he asked me to move in with him to help him with the mortgage. This dropped my monthly bills by over $1000 a month! I was so excited! I just knew the universe was lining me up to buy my house!
Then I lost my job in the middle of the recession. I am an electrician and the housing market had crashed. There was no work to be found for electricians around here. Luckily because of my moving to live with my friend I was able to get by on unemployment just barely. It was a rough couple of months.
That’s right! I was just 2 months out of work in one of the worst possible professions and the worst possible job market before I got a new job! To top it off, it was a government job, paid $5 more hourly then my last job, had great benefits, and it was a maintenance job instead of construction so it was a permanent position!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I still had really bad credit though. My score was barely in the 400s. I know because I checked it at least once a week. I got some of those high rate credit cards and was paying them off monthly, but everything I had read said it would take many years to clear my credit and many more to build it up to be able to buy a house.
I read The Secret again. I held onto my faith. I started going to open houses. I got apps on my phone to alert me for new listings and foreclosures. I looked into rent to own options, or someone who would co-sign with me but nobody I knew had that kind of credit and I wanted a 30 year fixed mortgage, not rent to own.
A few months later I met this wonderful man and we decided to live together, but his credit was worse than mine since he had just been divorced before we met. We started looking into renting a house and found one we liked well enough. We met with the owner’s Realtor, but it was too expensive. Since my boyfriend is a plumber/ carpenter and I am an electrician, we offered to do some much needed work on the property for a rent reduction. The owner refused us. Then his Realtor said to me “why don’t you buy a house? It is cheaper!” She offered to run my credit through a loan company to see if I was pre approved, so I let her, even though I had just checked it the day before and knew my credit score was still embarrassingly low. The next morning on my way to work the Realtor called me. I almost ran off the road when she told me I got approved! I pulled over and cried tears of joy! I had been approved for a $250,000 loan!!! When I got home that night I checked my credit score with all 3 companies and it was gone!?!? The repossessed car had miraculously vanished from all 3 of the company’s files and records! I had a 780+!!
A year after I bought and read The Secret I moved into my new home on Thanksgiving day! Maybe the universe was reminding me to be thankful?
I have been living my truly blessed life in my beautiful 5 bedroom, 3000 sq ft home, in the perfect neighborhood for 2 years now. I have even painted some walls. Which gave me this weird deja vu feeling! :-}
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I am reading The Magic now, and I love it, but instead of just writing what I was thankful for, while paying each bill I actually wrote a letter to each one telling them how and why I appreciated them. I ended each one with “may this new year bless you all with abundance”, followed by “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
Well, I got my water bill a few weeks later with a $300 credit on it! That is enough to cover it for at least 3 months!
Whoooooo hoooooo!!!!!
Thank you! thank you! thank you!
And
May this new year bless each and everyone of you with overwhelming abundance!
