I read The Secret few years ago. I was in a hostel in Bangalore for my pre- university away from home.
From my window I use to see children eating from the dustbin every morning. Immense poverty.
I thanked for all that had every day and morning. I pasted little papers in my small cupboard. Thank you for mother, father, food, my coffee and bun that the hostel provided me for breakfast. For my peace of mind that I was able to study and educate myself. I got the opportunity to live and understand another culture .
While I thanked in the morning, in the evening I closed my eyes and imagined what I would do when I go home to Maldives. I’ll work in television and educate the poor and the blind. I’ll get married and have a child. I’ll have a beautiful home and will also receive a needy child to live with me. I imagined these things for three long years.
Today I work in television. I work for the blind and visually impaired society as their ambassador. I have a great husband and a son with Allah’s grace and my nanny’s son from Nepal is living with me. Almost everything I imagined. I am humble about it and thankful with immense gratitude.
