IranI'm an 18 year old living in Isfahan/Iran. I'm interested in arts and I dream of getting my Ph.D. in Architecture from Harvard University!
Dear Rhonda
I read the story about Rachel from Indiana, and I thought I could share my story too and tell everybody how The Secret has affected my life.
My parents decided to send me abroad to study in a University in UAE. My favorite subject is Architecture. After some research that I did,
I found out that the American University of Sharjah is such a great place to study architecture. They only wanted about 50 students for architecture, and they had written on their website that the number of seats in the school of architecture and design is limited. I started gaining information about the university, and the more I found out, the more I wanted to be there as a student.
I applied for the university in March for fall 2008 semester, but there was one missing thing about the required items: I hadn’t had a TOEFL score. I went to an institute in my hometown and they told me there is going to be a TOEFL test, and they said they’re gonna call me and tell me the exact date.
They never called…I don’t know why. Anyways, it was in May that the University sent me an email indicating that all the seats were full and because I hadn’t sent them the TOEFL score I wasn’t given a seat. I got a little sad, but I wanted to be there. There was no time to waste being sad.
I asked my brother to apply for the TOEFL test in the capital city of Iran. I registered for the test and I was supposed to be in Tehran on May 4th. The day after that I realized that
my literature final exam at school was exactly on May 4th!! How could I be in two different cities at the same time?
Anyways, I went to my high school and talked to the school principal to see what would happen if I was absent for a final exam. She said I had to take another test a month later. So, I decided to go to Tehran and take part in TOEFL iBT. I went for the test and when I got the results online 3 weeks after that, I saw that I got 111 out of 120! It couldn’t be better! I reported the result to the university right away. They told me that they will put my name on a waiting list.
It was June 4th that I received a phone call from AUS saying that I was given an admission… I couldn’t sleep that night!
Now after all the stories that happened, I’m leaving Iran in almost 6 days to study Architecture in the American University of Sharjah, thanks to my only beloved: God.
Thanks Rhonda for making this film. Had I not watched it I would have got disappointed when they told me that the seats were full.
Regards,
Parastoo. 18, from Iran.
