Southend on Sea, UKI am at the ripe old age of 43. I am married to my beautiful wife Leanne and we have been together for over 20 years. She literally is my world and soul mate. We have two beautiful children, Laila and Austin, who are doing so well and making me prouder every day. I worked in the studio department of a print marketing company working the 9-5 like many others. 10 years ago I read The Secret and it changed my life.
My incredible transformation was ignited by The Secret and fortuitous connections.
It all started back in June 2008. I lost my job at a print company. I had been there for 11 years from the age of 17. I loved where I worked, I loved the people, the role, and the pay. Losing this really upset me as it was the only job I had really known since leaving school apart from my second job which was a retained firefighter for Essex Fire and Rescue Service.
I was out of my main work for 2 months until finding another job, an hour’s commute from home in Kent. I started there and it was all new. The blokes there didn’t take to me and would say, “What you want Essex boy? Coming over here taking out jobs?” The chap I worked closely with and I literally didn’t gel for 2 years. I found myself alienated going from a place where everyone was friendly and liked me to not being accepted and almost pushed out.
During this time I became depressed. I was working longer hours for much less money, had an extra fuel cost of £300 per month, and was financially struggling. To add to that, I felt like a complete outsider at work. I’ve always been an upbeat, happy-go-lucky person but for the first time in my life, I was many other things than that. I was angry, bitter, sad, frustrated, and altogether pissed off.
To add to it all, another recession hit the UK. There was more doom and gloom in the papers. Then I go to work and they say we need you all to work a 10-hour Saturday for free for the next 6 months to help the company out. This went on for 6 years. From where I was looking there was no way out, no light at the end of the tunnel!
Then one Saturday I was driving to work to do my free shift and on the way there I noticed this car ahead of me. It was extremely old which was why I noticed it. On passing the car I noticed the number plate said RUS SOS which caught my eye and it made me think that’s odd because my name is Russ. Then, I continued to drive to work.
I was driving down the M25 which is a notoriously fast road usually, but not on this occasion as there had been speed cameras fitted whilst ongoing road works were going on. So I set off at 50 mph in the fast lane and continued to work.
After a few minutes, I looked in my review mirror and saw a car in the distance as a tiny spec. I looked back to the road ahead and then glanced back at my rearview mirror only to see that the car which had been only a spec before, was traveling at a speed I could only guess was over 130 mph. And, it looked like it was going to hit my car. It is hard to explain how much time this was all happening. It was happening in like a blink of an eye, it must have been half a second from me looking in my rearview mirror to thinking, shit I’m going die!
I would normally have swerved but I didn’t. I just gripped the wheel, gritted my teeth, and tensed up, ready for the impact. But the car swerved at the last minute and skidded around then past me about as if I was standing still. It crashed into the central concrete reservation that separated the 2 sides of the M25. I saw the man do a kind of buckaroo in his seat and parts of his car flew off. Luckily for him, he had skidded out at such a wide angle and back again, that it took a lot of the speed out of the impact. I even saw him look out of the window just after it happened.
I slowed down to 20 mph and carefully went around him and continued up the road. I considered stopping but had a monologue going back and forth with my brain saying it was too dangerous to stop and I was also in a state of shock.
I turned up at work white as a ghost. I told my work colleagues who didn’t seem too bothered. We got some coffee and then started working. I never called the police which I think I should have, but since I could see the man was looking around afterwards I assumed he was ok. However, when I look back now I wish I would have done so.
Then it happened! I watched The Secret! I can’t even recall where or how I watched it but I found it fascinating and it found me at a time in my life when I needed it the most.
My darkest hour was lifted! My mindset had shifted back to a positive one but this time it was different. I had more drive than before.
I started a company in 2012 which ultimately failed but led me to learn many things. I also began helping others online with a service I started called Make A Difference Consulting, AKA MAD Consulting. This was just me, trying to be a better person. It is something I still do to this day but I have since developed my skills and knowledge much more.
I continued learning all I could about online networks, websites, and marketing. Anything I could do to invest in myself to become better. Then I discovered that the super-rich and successful people had a large successful following on their social media accounts and great exposure online with websites and such. So I started to build my own online networks. First I focused on quantity, then after a while, I decide to go for quality to fill my networks with the best of the best. The best marketers, business professionals, influencers, millionaires, and even billionaires.
I then thought about how could I serve people with my networks, and this is when I launched Most Mogul, a site that featured successful individuals in the form of interviews. This went really well but I wrapped it up as I couldn’t see a way to make it into a business. After that, I partnered with a guy and we ran a magazine called Business Digest Magazine. This got a good name for its brand and many people wanted to be interviewed. It earned good money but unfortunately, I decided to leave as I found the business partner difficult to work with. I took a year off after this as I had put a lot of time, energy, and money into this business and I was sad to see it fail.
I briefly started a personal branding business but as soon as I started it I was drawn back to interviewing people. I launched a news media company, interviewing people at its core. In this business, I am fully in control and have complete control of every decision that is made. My VIP guests on GallantCEO.com show that it is destined for greatness. We also provide PR services and a free interview service for any business professional to not exclude anyone and to also include my passion for helping others within the business model.
That’s me.
