I began reading and practicing the principles of The Magic in September 2013.

The exercises were creative and really opened my eyes to the power of gratitude. I obtained many great things over the course of those 28 days, like interviewing for my new job and getting my new apartment. However, here’s my favorite story.

With the exception of my parents and I, all of our family lives in California. We are a close-knit family and really love each other. I had not been able to see them for over four years because I had begun working full-time and then went to graduate school on top of that. When I got my master’s degree in August 2013, I said that I wanted to travel.

One day during September, I got a random call from my cousin. She said that she knew someone who worked for an airline and had a free plane ticket for me!

The family’s annual cabin retreat weekend was coming up in three weeks, so I would finally be able to go!

While I was there, I had the best time. The plane rides were an adventure, I explored some caves, went hiking and boating, I got to go to a famous church, etc.

But most importantly, I got to reconnect with my aunts, uncles, and cousins as if I hadn’t even been away from them!
