My cat of 20 years died this past spring and by August I was starting to feel like something was missing from our home. I decided it was time to get a new cat. I really wanted to splurge and get a pure-breed cat, in particular I was interested in a Bengal cat. However, the price stopped me. Purebred kittens ranged from $800-$1,600 each and I just couldnât justify spending this much on a kitten. I thought I might just ask the Universe to bring me the cat I wanted but decided I would just go to a local animal shelter and get a cat or kitten there.
Two weeks after deciding this, my co-worker told me that her son noticed a big sign saying âFree Kittensâ on his way on from school. It turns out it was a neighbourâs cat that had the kittens. She told me they were planning to go take a look that night even though they couldnât get a cat because her son was allergic. She knew I was in love with the Bengal breed, we had talked about these cats just a few weeks before. That night she sent me an email with pictures of the three kittens she and her son visited. The mother is part Bengal and part Persian cat and the father is a tabby cat. One of the kittens looks exactly like a Bengal with beautiful black leopard-like spots.
I called the owner the next day and went to see the kitten. She said I could have him. My son and I are so happy and I am so grateful to the Universe for bringing me what I wanted before I even asked. And for free!
