Finding a book
Submitted by: Sarah C
Oceanside, CAMom of three boys. Married 11 years. Military wife.
I have to say that my story is a plug for The Secret. I would say that even the Universe agrees that this is a life-changing book. The reason I say that is……
After being married to the Military for so long, one begins to feel inadequate, and that everything you want doesn’t matter – it’s what the Military wants. So, I tend to have bouts of Depression (bad ones). It was during one of these bouts that I had this really strong pull to find “an inspirational book that would change my life!” I searched used book stores and Barnes and Nobel, not really knowing what I was looking for. Well, one day I decided that I needed some help with my depression issue. I called up a therapist and she got me in within 2 weeks. She seemed to be one of those “New Age” people, so I was trying to keep an open mind. I listened to her, and I thought all of the things were crazy. When I told her that I was drawn to finding a book, she stopped and looked at me as if I had two heads. She said to me, “Have you read The Secret?”. I paused for a thought, and said, “No, but I own it. I bought it about a year ago from a book club.” Well, that send her into the, “OMG, what do you mean?! You haven’t read it!? If you read that you won’t even need to come and see me!”
That was all I needed to hear. I went home, dug it out of the box it was hiding in, and I haven’t looked back.
So you see, even the Universe knows that The Secret is an all-empowering book, because that’s all I asked for: “A book that would change my life, inspire me!”
