I am 27 yrs old and a mother of two. I was only 17 when I had my daughter, so I had to grow up fast. Her father and I tried to do the grown-up thing, both working and raising our daughter, and for a while we were doing ok.

My father was killed right before my daughter was born, which was a hard thing to handle and postpartum depression didn’t help. It got so bad that I lost my job, my relationship, and eventually my home.

My Daughter and I moved back to my mother’s house, and I tried to put my life back together. It was really painful for my mother to see me so sad and lost. She’d heard of the book ‘The Secret’ from a friend and thought of me immediately, so she ran out and bought it.

It must have been like a year and a half later when she was getting remarried and I was needing a place of my own. She came to me with the book in her hand and asked me if I was ready to stop all the heartbreak and be happy with my every want fulfilled. She said all I need to do was to read this book with an open mind and heart and it would change my life.

Later that night I was feeling so hopeless. I had no place to move to and no job, I couldn’t see any way to make these things happen. All I could do was cry. I felt something in me say, ‘Look up!’ So I did, and there was the book on my bed where I’d thrown it. The book had fallen open to a page. When I read it I laughed to myself because it said, “See yourself with that thing you want. Feel it. Believe it, and it will be yours.” I thought to myself, “Sounds too good to be true,” so I thought of the most impossible thing for me to obtain: a place to live, that I could afford on my own. I promised myself that I would really try it and if this would work I would read and take in the whole book. So every night as I was trying to sleep, I would picture me and my daughter in a home of our own. I did the same in the morning before I got out of bed.

I did this for about 2 weeks, then I got a call from my mom to meet her at a place she saw for rent. By the time my daughter got out of school that day I had signed the lease and had the keys to our house!

With all the excitement of moving I hadn’t thought of the book at all ‘till I was unpacking a box and there it was. I opened to the page I’d marked and smiled as I read it again, I knew that I had found the thing to help me live my life full of happiness, love and peace. I called my mom and told her thank you for never giving up on me and for helping me to find my way. She told me that she’d used the Secret to bring me to read the book and she knew it would help me find my way.

I can’t explain how good it feels to truly love everything about my life.
