Finally paid what I am worth

I was working in a job in the scientific field but wasn’t really enjoying it, as it wasn’t mentally challenging, and I wasn’t being paid what I was worth. After gaining many years of experience, I was still being paid something similar to that of a recent graduate. It seemed like I couldn’t get ahead.
After reading The Secret, I started visualizing the type of job I wanted and started believing it was possible for me to be paid what I was worth. I wanted to get into a particular field however in my state there wasn’t many job opportunities in that field. A couple weeks later, I found a job advertised in the newspaper that fit my skills and experience and was offering a lot more money than I was currently earning.
I applied for the job and got an interview, which went okay. I was desperate to have this job as I really didn’t want to stay where I was working, as it was a very negative environment where everyone loved to complain.
Unfortunately I missed out on this position, as I just couldn’t believe 100% that I could get that job. I kept believing that I would work there as it was exactly the type of work I wanted to get into.
A number of months passed by and I saw another job advertised at the same place. I applied for this one but also missed out on it.
To make a long story short, months later a new position was created within that company which I applied for and ended up getting. This time I didn’t let the opportunity slip through my fingers and I just concentrated on the end result of having the job, and not worrying if I would miss out on it.
After I started working there, I realized how small the team was with only eight people working there. I think it was amazing that job opportunities kept popping up for me in that team. I think that if I didn’t get the job on the third try more opportunities would’ve appeared until I finally got my job.
It goes to show that you should never give up and that if you truly believe you can do anything.
