Before I ever read The Secret or The Power, I noticed a little phenomenon I called “road karma.” Basically, when a driver would cut me or another driver off, etc., it wasn’t very long before someone would do the same to that driver. I also noticed that if I was feeling pressured to get somewhere I would encounter one thing after another slowing me down, so I made up an affirmation that went like this: “Everything I need to get done, will get done in the right time, space, and sequence.”

As this affirmation became part of my being, a strange and wondrous thing began to happen, but it really did not hit me until one day when I was to meet a friend for a movie, and was running a little late (this was pre cell phone era). Initially I worried about being late, but then I put my affirmation to work. Magically the lights went green and cars just seemed to clear out of my path. It was effortless. I was still a little late, but to my surprise, my friend was pulling into the parking lot right after me. She was running late too! The difference between the two of us was she was absolutely frazzled about it, and complained how terrible traffic had been. But here is the best part – as I said, we were going to a movie which had a specific start time. When we got up to the ticket window, there was a sign stating that the show we were planning to attend was starting later due to technical difficulties in the previous show. So instead of having about thirty minutes to wait had we both got there as initially planned, we were right on time!

In twenty years I have never forgotten this little demonstration of the power of affirmations. And now I understand that I had cleared more than the roadway for me by my thought-feeling vibe; my belief that it would all be ok caused the Universe to deliver what I wanted with perfect timing – even my frazzled friend! As a side note, she began using that same affirmation with great results.
