Envy.

West Bengal, IndiaI am an eighth standard student and I wanted to be an author.
I am currently an eighth standard student. When I was small, I wanted to be a doctor, not that I liked the concept of being one but because most people prefer doctors in their homes. As I grew up more, I wanted to be an Engineer because I love physics. And frankly, I wasn’t good at Biology and I hated the thought of having to cut people open! But then, the moment I started reading fantasy stories, I was drowned in the fantasy world and wanted to open a joke shop.
Finally, after all these plans, I understood that my heartiest desire was to be an author. I started to write stories but they weren’t satisfactory to me so I tried and tried again.
Meanwhile, one of my dearest friends got her story published in the Amazon Kindle book store and gained a high rate of fame. I was thunderstruck! Then, within a month she got another book published and earned a lot of money. Now I was burning with envy and my desire to be an author increased even more. I now had a goal to complete an entire book.
One of our other friends was envious too but didn’t make any effort to write anything. She kept on insulting our other friend and telling her that her book was rubbish. I discouraged her in this, but she didn’t keep my words in mind.
I have nearly finished my first book and I am excited to release it! Thank you to my friend! She proved that age does not matter in what we do. If I had not been envious, I would not have achieved my goal. On the other hand, our other friend didn’t try to improve herself but only went on insulting.
Today I proved to myself that envy isn’t always bad, it’s the way we choose to act on it.
