My life began when my mom called me telling me about this “new” book called The Secret. She had always been telling me about the latest self help books she read, so I disregarded it at first. A few weeks later I was watching Oprah and saw the special with the different authors of The Secret, and felt this strong connection and longing to know more. The next day I decided to read it and see what it was all about.

I am a very skeptical person, so I decided to envision something into reality, as the book suggests. I pictured a guy. He was 6’3 with dark brown hair, facial hair, and was wearing a button down white shirt with a pair of jeans and flip flops. I envisioned him walking past me, glancing, and continuing on. For two weeks I continued to envision this guy over and over in my head. Exactly two weeks from the day I started to think about this “guy”, I was out at a bar with my friends and out of the corner of my eye I saw this guy coming in. He was exactly like I pictured. From the hair to the flip flops it was to a tee. I almost fell off my chair when he walked past, glanced, and continued walking.

After that night my life changed completely. I began using the Secret every day. I wake up being grateful for everything I have. Since I have begun using the Secret, I have seen the results in many aspects of my life. I won an outdoor grill and a catered party for 20 of my closest friends because I envisioned myself cooking on it. I won a gift basket filled with body lotions and shower supplies because I wanted it. Last, but certainly not least, I printed out the visionary Check and wrote down $32,000. I kept envisioning that I had this money and it was in the bank. I had it taped to the ceiling of my bed and looked at it every morning when I woke up.

About a month later, I got a call from my dad saying that my great aunt was going to be moving to an assisted living home. He then preceded to tell me that all her belongings, including her house, will be split between my sister and myself. He told me that in about three years, when all is said and done I will have about $32,000. He said that number specifically, without knowing that I had even written an imaginary check!!

I live my life by the Secret. It has changed my life. It makes me want to be a better person. It makes me want to show people the power that life has to offer.
