Dreams really do come true
Submitted by: Jessica
EuropeI am Jessica from Europe and I am 16 years old.
The Secret has made my dreams come true! It all began when this summer I went on a cruise for a week with my family . Before I went on the cruise, the way I thought about myself was really bad. I felt worthless and my self-esteem was low. I had already read The Secret a couple of months before, but did not give it much importance.
Anyway, when I went on the cruise I told myself that I am going to enjoy this vacation and make the most out of it. On the first night we went to watch a show in the theater. The show was a musical where the performers were singing and dancing. I enjoyed this show so much that I decided that every night we would go and see the different shows performed. As I went to bed after the first show I told my mum, I want to perform on stage just like those dancers. She started laughing telling me that the only thing I should be thinking about were passing my exams (as I am a student). I did not bother what my mum said, and I told the rest of my family. My father smiled, my brothers ignored me, and my mum could not stop laughing. I guess she did not believe in me. I bothered my mum telling her over and over again, “I want to perform on this stage in this theater. She still kept laughing.
One night we went to watch a flamenco show. The theater was full of people – there were at least 1000 people – so we had to be there earlier to get the best seats. And in fact we did not get the best; we were on the first floor inline with the stage on the side, but not at the front and not at the back. At least these werent the worst seats – we were still able to watch the dancers.
Towards the end of the show I saw the dancer coming down from stage and running towards my direction. I was like, what on earth is she doing?! As she got closer she grabbed my hand and pulled me on stage in front of all those people. I did not know what to think! She showed me some flamenco steps and told me to dance them, so I did just that. The videos were rolling – cameramen were actually filming me! Anyway, I danced for about a minute and she led me back to my place. In the mean time people were clapping and whistling. I felt so good! After the show we were heading off to our cabins and people actually recognized me. This guy told all the other people in a loud voice, Look, she’s the girl who danced on stage. The people crowded to look at me and started to clap for me. The guy also told me that I danced great, and I thanked him so much. My parents, especially my mum, could not believe it, and my brothers were shocked.
That evening my father was carrying a video camera, so lucky for me he filmed me and I am always watching the tape at home.
