My best friend introduced me to this book and I have been using it since. I have to admit that unless I practice it on a daily basis sometimes I forget what power it gives me.

Here is a perfect example:

In 2012 I changed jobs and got myself a $20,000 increase in pay only to find out that my bosses were less than stable, financially and for other reasons. I decided to put in my 1 year and start looking for work.

I interviewed and spoke to people but everyone wanted me to move across the country which was not ideal for my family. I started doubting myself, I had been at it for 3 months and there was nothing worth pursuing.

One day a light bulb went on; “Wait a second, I am doing it wrong!! My dream job is waiting for me, I have to stop looking and start paying attention”.

I unsubscribed from all job posting websites, stopped looking at ads and started telling myself and everyone that cared to listen that I have a new job, what it pays and the position. In my heart I believed it.

One Friday afternoon my boss came in an started laying off people; they ran out of money. As he was going through the office, I received a short message from a LinkedIn contact “I have been thinking about you. How about coffee?”. This was from someone I met once, 2 years prior and we have not spoken since that was running a company with my dream job. At that moment I knew it, here is my dream job!!

By the time my boss came around to give me the unfortunate news, “I am sorry but we have to lay you off, I know this is…” I stopped him right there.
“Don’t worry about it, I already have a job.”

He looked at me and asked how?

Three days later I met my new boss for coffee and had a short conversation. By the time I left, the coffee the job was mine! My dream job; exactly what I wanted, in the same city with another $20,000 salary increase!

Life is beautiful and we all have the same power!

Sometimes we just have to remind ourselves of it!
