The last year or so has been a bumpy financial road for me. Normally one to keep my problems to myself, I just snapped one day while chatting to my volleyball teamates after a game. I just lost it and burst into tears, complaining about everything that was going wrong in my life. One of the girls said: “Donna, you need to read The Secret.” She then proceeded to tell me that she would lend me her copy, which she did the following week.

I started reading it yesterday and I’m now on page 104 where David Schirmer says that I should visualise money coming to me instead of bills. I immediately placed a bookmark in the pages, closed the book and chanted the following repeatedly: “I visualise money coming to me. I believe that there is money coming to me. Thank you for the money that I am going to receive!”

I then opened up the book again and continued to read, all the while thinking about where I would allocate that money once it arrived.

An hour or so later, on my way back from the supermarket, I was reminded of all of this when I drove past my mailbox. I parked the car, walked over to the mailbox, repeating in my head that money was coming to me. I opened the mailbox, sifted through it all and came across a letter from my vehicle insurance company.

It read:
“CONGRATULATIONS! Your OUT-Bonus is due. It is your reward for being claim-free and it’s time to spoil yourself. An amount of *R1 473.85 will be deposited into your bank account within 5 working days from 02/10/2007.”

I immediately reminded myself to say: “Thank you” out loud!

I’m now moving onto bigger things. Watch this space!
