The Curious Case Of Visualization.
Submitted by: Anonymous
IndiaI am a mother of a six year old and a professional, going for higher studies at the age of 35.
I have been wishing to go for higher studies in the US ever since I completed two years at work. My dream University has been MIT. I have always believed in the power of visualization; therefore, I adorned my cubicle, laptop, mobile wall papers and study area at home with a picture of the MIT great dome.
Years passed. I have had the chance to work in the USA, but nothing clicked with my longstanding wish of studying at MIT. I keep staring at the dome every time that I looked at my devices. However, MIT became the first University I visited in the USA. I attended a prospective student session at MIT, but the program wasn’t appealing to me; hence I left the idea of applying. MIT Media Lab is beyond my reach.
Long story short, I did not get into the University that with the great dome, but got admitted to another University which has a similar great dome; the Low Memorial Library at Columbia University! I am also waiting for the admission decision from another University which was my first priority; however, getting accepted to Columbia was nothing but the power of visualization, the picture of the great dome all around me on my laptop, mobile, Facebook banner and home.
