Cup o’ Joe

Scottsdale, AZ25 year old mother who uses The Secret to live every day to the fullest.
After having read and watched The Secret, I was ready to test my powers. As The Secret suggests, I started with something small- a cup of coffee.
I was meeting a friend for the afternoon, and decided on my way to her house that we simply MUST have coffee on our outing. As a result of previous beliefs about money, though, funds were short and I did not have any cash to buy us coffees. Nonetheless, as I drove, I pictured us with our coffees, ice clinking around in the glass. I even felt the condensation on my hands.
Usually, when I have somewhere to be at a specific time, I do not respond well to things that slow me down. So when traffic light after traffic light kept me from getting to my friend’s house, my response surprised me- I instantly knew that the Universe was slowing me down so that I could get my coffee, and I got EXCITED about being slowed down. When the elderly lady cut me off to drive 10 under the speed limit, I started thanking the Universe for slowing me down to the flow of my coffee. Then I suddenly had a thought- one that I would have dismissed had I not been on a “high” of riding the flow of the Universe. I thought “Just go in and order what you want.”
What?! Walk into an establishment, with NO money, and order what I want, knowing that it’s already mine?
When my friend got into my truck, I said “First things first- we’re going to the coffee shop to get some free coffee.” She asked me how, so I explained everything- from reading The Secret to the Universe slowing me down, to my insane idea.
We walked in to the coffee shop, and a girl took our order for 2 iced coffees, and turned around to start making them while I “dug for my debit card”. Just then, a nice gentleman walked out from the back room, tying his apron like he had just gotten to work. He walked up to the register to complete my transaction, and I told him that he would have to cancel my order because I think I left my debit card in my other purse. He waved his hand and said “they’re free today!”
We walked out of the coffee shop with the iced coffees, ice clinking in glasses, condensation on our hands. Now, naturally, this got me really excited. I had to call my mom, I told my sister all about it, my friend and I recalled the story to mutual friends. Every time I talked about these free coffees, I got really excited and thankful.
This is where the power of gratitude takes it over the top.
The next time I went in to the coffee shop, I happened to be behind a girl that used a frequent coffee buyer stamp card to get her 8th cup of coffee for free. The guy at the register gave her the free coffee, which also got me excited – I am again on the frequency of free coffees if I am here seeing this woman get hers for free. I ordered my coffee, and the guy showed me the free coffee card from the woman ahead of me. “It’s your lucky day!” he said. The coffee was free again.
And again I got excited, called everyone who knew of my previous coffee experience, and felt gratitude.
Now, this may be their trick, because by this time I was getting quite used to having my daily coffee. A few times I went in and bought coffee, always getting my 8th one for free, and always getting excited about it. One day I went in and ordered, and the girl that took my order said “Here – you are in here all the time.” And she handed me a SPECIAL VIP stamp card with 52 stamps on it- one for a free coffee every week for a year!
