Cooking makes you feel good

Five weeks ago I was severely depressed and suicidal after years of trying to keep a building firm together. I was cutting prices to the minimum and customers were demanding more and more for their money. Being the main contractor I was working 65 hours a week for nothing and had all the other problems associated with this which caused complete breakdown.
A couple of weeks before this my daughter had been reading The Secret and she said, This is something you would be interested in Dad. Being severely dyslexic I couldn’t read the paper copy and the kindle version (speech to text) was not available then.
After going to the doctors and being advised to close the company down and stop working for a while, my daughter and I managed to find the audio cd version. After listening to this a few hundred times it suddenly sprang into my head to start cooking. I started with apple chutney and soon my wife got into the spirit of it as well after seeing me so happy. We started making jams, more chutney, pies, puddings, cake, bread etc.
It really slowed me down, centered me, and I feel happy most of the time now.
Thank you. Derek
