A Comfortable Stay In A Romanian Village.
Submitted by: Dinny
SingaporeI enjoy traveling in my free time and enjoy all the small blessings that come into my life.
Since coming to Romania for a short holiday, I had always wanted to live in a village and admire the rustic scenery. I read a blog post on the slow pace of village life in Northern Romania and yearned to stay with villagers and observe their way of life. I made no prior accommodation plans in Northern Romania. I gave myself the challenge to find accommodation in a Northern Romanian village, without the need to use apps like CouchSurfing or AirBNB.
Going to this particular village ‘Vadu Izei’ in Northern Romania was a little out of the way. It required travelling on three different buses from Bucharest. At my last stop-over at “Bain Mare” bus station on route to Vadu Izei, I befriended a local who was waiting for her bus. She was very curious as to why someone all the way from Asia would come to the Northern part of Romania, especially on a holiday.
She told me that I was more than welcome to stay in her cottage, which was near Vadu Izei. At that moment, I was certain that the Universe answered my prayer. I was indeed blessed to live in her village tasting home made cheese, bread and chocolate cookies and drinking ‘Palinka”, a Romanian alcoholic beverage. Thank you!
