Clarifying my wish for a new job
Submitted by: Brenda T
Houston, TXI am a teacher and a mother of 4. I love to tell all of my kids that The Secret to a happy life is gratitude.
I was introduced to The Secret by a co-worker who heard me say I believed in speaking things into existence so I guess you could say I was half way there already. After reading the book, I made several wonderful changes in my life.
Examples of the changes include the healing of my toe after 20 years of living with a fungus and the acquisition of a car. I got the car within 2 weeks of cutting out its picture. One was in black and white and one was in color. I had posted them at the corner of my computers at home and at work. The color of my car is actually the combination of the two pictures I cut out!
But the story I really want to share with you is about my job. I am a teacher and the window of opportunity to change where a teacher works is a very small one. Last year, I told everyone I was looking for a different school and grade level to work at. My worst fear was that I was going to have to work at that school again the following year.
Well if you know anything about The Secret, you know that I spent too much time thinking about where I didnt want to work and I ended up staying in that position for another year. I continued to read The Secret and practice forward thinking. This time when the end of the school year came, I gave away all of the materials I needed to teach the young grade. My co-workers were in disbelief because they said I should have another job before I gave my things away. I told them and my students that this was going to be my last year at that school. I believed and acted as though I didnt need those things.
I interviewed like crazy, but I was never offered another job. I read something in The Secret that said most people dont get what they wish for because they dont know what they want or because they kept changing what they wanted. I realized that every time I saw a new position open, I changed my wish. I had to really figure out what I really wanted and wish for that.
When I figured out that what I really wanted was a position that gave me a little more money, more time with my kids, and a sense of fulfilment. The day after I made this decision, I was offered two interviews and eventually offered two positions.
The wow of the whole story is that the positions I was offered were perfect fits for my credentials and experience but I never even knew there was such a position. In other words the universe brought me something perfect even though I didnt know I could wish for it. I am very grateful for this website and the book.
