In 2007, I ran a marathon which awarded each of its finishers a beautiful Tiffany finisher necklace. Given what was going on in my life at the time – unemployed, lonely, broke, etc. – the necklace was a symbol of personal triumph in a time of adversity.
Fast forward about 8-10 months. I was getting a massage after 4th of July weekend, and my necklace was, shall we say, removed from my possession. I was heartbroken to learn that my necklace was missing, but I was never convinced that it was permanently gone. I retraced all of my steps and found nothing. I decided, though, that I WAS going to have that necklace once again.
I listened to The Secret audio book to refresh my skills on getting in the right mind-frame to attract it back to me.
During that time, I had a friend who worked for the company who co-sponsored the race where the necklace was awarded. I mentioned to her that my necklace was stolen, and asked if she could do anything. She told me it was a long shot, but she’d try. I left that request and continued to concentrate on attracting the necklace back.
A few months later (September, to be exact), I got a call from my friend. I had always remained positive that I would have my necklace once again, but when I told my friend of my request, she wasn’t sure she could do anything. Well, she tracked down a coworker who was able to locate one lone necklace from a race that happened (at that point) almost a year prior. She called me to her office and handed me a little blue box that contained a replacement to the necklace. The symbol of my triumph in adversity was mine once again!
Using the Secret, I prevailed.
