Catching A Break While Drunk.
Submitted by: David M.
Brighton, OntarioI am a deeply spiritual person, not in the sense of sitting in a church pew on a Sunday, more from the viewpoint of looking at our Universe with complete awe and observing the Intelligence that creates all, our Source Of Being. I fly airplanes for a living and have traveled extensively with my employment. Aviation is my passion and all that has transpired I am so deeply grateful for.
Throughout my younger years, all I ever wanted to do was become a pilot, so after graduating High School, I applied for the Airforce Pilot Training Program.
After my initial tests were completed, I was eagerly awaiting my results. One night I went on a drunk fest with my friends. I should have taken a taxi home but did not, so after dropping my friends off at their house, when I was only 300 meters from home, I wrapped my car around a tree!
The police officer who arrived on the scene should have thrown me in jail that night because I was certainly well and truly drunk, but he didn’t. Instead, he very calmly drove me home.
The significance of that act didn’t dawn on me until years later and to this day I am truly grateful to that officer. I hope to one day meet him again and tell him how he changed one young man’s life, with a simple act of compassion. Had he charged me that night, I would never have been accepted into the Airforce and my life would have been very different indeed. I am so very grateful to the Universe for that particular officer, had he not come along…
Everything I have had in my life since then can be traced back to that one event. There have been many things that happened over the years and they all come back to the principles taught in The Secret. However, it was all jump-started that night with a car wrapped around an oak tree near my home.
