Believing Is Seeing!
Submitted by: Grateful
Wisconsin, USAI am a 33-year-old professional, wife, and mother of two. I am a believer in the power of our thoughts and of gratitude to change lives.
I’m thankful for the opportunity to share a story with the followers of The Secret, and within this story, may Rhonda and her team hear my deepest gratitude for bringing this knowledge back to us. For helping us to remember.
Like many, I’ve used the law of attraction in my life for many years, in ways both big and small. I have reveled in the magic that swirls around me, and I have learned lessons that needed to be learned. Perspectives have been shifted and the optimism that is inherent in gratitude has lifted not only my life, but those around me.
And, one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that Believing Is Seeing, not the other way around. If I want to see my reality shift, then I better go within. Finding this shift of perspective and taking the leaps of faith that are required is not a simple task living in a world where the prevailing attitude is skeptical and demands results before belief. But I would say to the skeptics; what do you have to lose really? The proof is all around you.
More recently, I’ve been focusing on bringing more wealth into my life. And here is how it happened:
One day my coworker happened to stop at my office and say, “You know, they’re hiring at …. for your position.” It was a seemingly random happening as I had not been thinking of changing jobs, nor was I unhappy with my current one. However, I decided to look into it. And then I decided I had nothing to lose with applying.
Months passed, because this is a federal job and the checks and balances are mighty, and after my interview and my short visualization of getting that phone call and feeling the feelings of joy and gratitude, I had let it go.
And then I received the initial offer for the job, with salary details to come later. Amazing. Although then I began to worry about the commute, because it would be 50 minutes from our home. And then more magic swirled and our lease came due and we ended up finding a better home to rent, that actually cost less, and was 20 minutes closer to the new job. Wow!
During this time, since the initial phone call, I had been practicing my visualization regarding the salary offer. I knew what the range was for my position, and despite my husband’s skepticism, I honed in on an amount on the higher side of the range: $100,000. I visualized the offer letter, I wrote out a check with that amount to myself, and most importantly, I spent time feeling happy and grateful whenever I could. I thought about all of the ways my salary would be used for our family, with the primary goal of clearing up past debts to make room for more wealth in my bank account. And with seeing more wealth, came images of fun vacations, surprises for others, and new experiences.
I knew the tentative date for the board to decide my salary and so I became very excited to receive my final offer. And before I knew it, the phone call came. I think my adrenaline was so high, that it wasn’t until I was reading the offer letter attached to the email, that I realized it said exactly what I had written on my own practice letter “We’d like to congratulate you and extend you an offer for …. with a starting annual salary of $100,000.” The feeling is hard to describe, when something like this happens. But the overriding thought that permeates is one of utter awe for how powerful we really are.
And now I find myself in a new job, with new exciting challenges, a $20,000 pay raise, better retirement benefits and vacation time, and more money in my bank account. We are paying off old debts which then frees up more money, and we have two vacations planned. And perhaps less grandly, but still importantly, we are able to hire babysitters to go on dates, have a cleaning service care for our home, and splurge on our family and friends when we want to. We have found that our anxieties are lessened and we enjoy each other more. And every day, we choose to be grateful for what we have. Because we believe, we choose faith over doubt, and happiness over fear. It’s a wonderful place to be.
