Preston UKRE teacher in the UK. Very happy with life and looking forward to the future.
Over a year ago I was working as a teacher on supply.
It wasn’t the perfect job but it was bringing home the money needed to survive. I was looking for a permanent teaching job so that I could get a mortgage with my boyfriend and we could buy our first house together.
A friend that I was working with told me of a new job that she had just got in a new school. As she told me about the school I thought that would be perfect for me, but I wasn’t confident that I would get anywhere. I was so happy for my friend and thankful that she had received this new job.
I visualized us working together again, a month or so later, I had a phone call from the principal of the new school inviting me to apply for the role of Humanities teacher.
I applied for the role and got the job!
I am now sitting in a gorgeous house that I share with my boyfriend!
After a year of working at the new school, I decided that it wasn’t right for me. I wasn’t feeling happy and I knew that I was living on the wrong frequency and so I handed in my notice. It was a very bold move to make as I had no back up plan. I had learned so much at the school from the training, other members of staff and also the pupils.
During the summer break I had no prospects of work ahead of me, until I received a call asking me to go back to the school in a support role. After two weeks in the job I received another phone call from a teaching agency asking me to go into a school for an interview. I went in for an interview and got the job!!!!!!
I am now teaching RE, my main subject!!
I visualized myself teaching RE and here I am.
My next steps now are to visualize myself working closer to home and in a sixth form. I know that the experience I will gain here will be invaluable to my next steps forward!
Thank you!!
