Are You Wondering “WHAT NEXT”?
Submitted by: Amphrey Grace
Kampala, UgandaAm always full of hope. I believe I can achieve each and everything anyone can achieve .
Of the three sons born of my mother, I was born on 1st Jan 1991 as the firstborn, something that made me grow up with a number of responsibilities including being the care taker of my younger brothers when mum was away, in those days. Life proved quite hard to me as a little boy born in a poor family deep in a village in southwestern Uganda.
I started my nursery training at a church school in 1995 and finished two years there by the end of 1996. I then started primary school at a school 5 minutes-walk away from my home. Whether things just happened by miracle or not, I didn’t care because I never knew what it was to live. I never repeated a class from primary 1 to primary 7 in 2003, when all of a sudden my mum divorced. I therefore had to do my Primary Living Examinations as I took care of every thing at home. By God’s grace, whatever I scored was enough to qualify me into secondary school.
I studied ordinary level from a secondary school, just opposite my former primary school. Perhaps I was always the last student to clear up school fees! Amidst all challenges I was facing at school plus the trouble I always had with my father at home when he was drunk, I was still able to score highly in grade 1,and yet in the second position of the whole class in 2007!
I got a chance of joining a better school for advanced level under the sponsorship of my uncle. I had always dreamed of being a doctor and this was perhaps the only chance I had to prove myself. In November 2009, we did our final exams and results were out in March 2010. It all seemed that if I was not going to be admitted on government sponsorship for the university, I would certainly be done with my education.
So I just waited till mid June but I was not indeed admitted. The very last chance left was to receive a government sponsorship in a tertiary institution, so I still waited with a lot of hopes that God would still see me through…..and by late July, it had happened indeed! Yes! I was admitted at the School of Public Health Dentistry for a diploma. This is the only school of its kind in the country! My family was so happy though it was still quite hard to raise money I needed in order to report for registration.
Now, a few weeks ago, I was elected as the president of Dental School. My name is popular at school! This of course the biggest responsibility I have so far had in my life and I believe it is just the beginning. But I have not stopped hoping for wonderful things! My heart still desires. I have no idea how some times thing chose to go that way but if you are just there wondering about “WHAT NEXT”, you’ve got to believe that each one of us has the potential to attract anything to ourselves.
This is what I have heard people call The Secret. It works! Just believe and let things happen. You will one time be lifted from almost nowhere to a wonderful paradise as long as you are in this universe am in. My profound gratitude therefore goes to The Secret team and all Secret fans for all changing people’s lives. Thank you for your time. Blessings.
