I first learned about The Secret in January 2016 from a total stranger. I was out with one of my good friends on a girls’ night out. We were at a bar having a glass of wine where I met a man that asked me if I had heard of “The Secret”. My response was, “No”. His words to me were, “Read it.” He said it will change my life, how I view life, and what I choose to focus on in life. I admit I was skeptical, but at the same time, I was intrigued.

During the Spring of 2016, I came across a copy of The Secret while visiting a Wellness Center in New York City (NYC). This place was magical. Even though I walked past the center each and every day, I’m telling you that I never saw it. I found the Wellness Center about a week after learning that the company I was working for was downsizing half of its workforce and my job was being eliminated. During that time, I had an incredible sense of strength and a positive outlook on life. I knew that losing my job would mean big changes for my family. We could no longer afford to live in one of the greatest cities in the world, NYC. I knew that changes were inevitable. And knowing all of this, I was calm. I was happy. I was relieved to separate myself from a corporate job that had me working seven days a week at all hours of the day. Yes, it paid well. Yes, the job was within walking distance of my NYC apartment. Yet, it was not creating happiness in my life. In fact, I was unhappy. My heart desired something more, something more fulfilling. Finding the Wellness Center was an ah-ha moment for me. I remember asking myself, “Where was this place before? Why had I not seen it before? I passed by this place every day on my way to work, why am I seeing it now and not before?” My mind was filled with questions, but no matter, all I knew was that I found the center. I was drawn to it.

That’s where out of the blue, I found “The Secret” on a bookshelf staring at me right in the face. I knew that I had to read it. One thing I should note is that prior to reading “The Secret”, I was writing and practicing the things I was grateful for each day. What I did not know was the impact it would have on my life. I also did not know that the act of practicing gratitude each day would attract the things I wanted to in life.

I absorbed the information in “The Secret” and started applying the philosophy to my life. I wanted to learn more about the role of gratitude and how it was related to the law of attraction. By the time I finished reading all the pages of The Secret, my family and I had left our NYC apartment and moved to New Jersey with family until we figured out what we wanted out of life. Losing my job left me asking questions like what I wanted out of my career and where did I want to live. Most importantly, I wanted happiness for myself, my husband, and my 8 year old daughter.

That was also the time when I realized that I was blessed to have a supportive family. I was also blessed with having a break from work. Collecting unemployment for me was a blessing. It provided me with time. The time I needed to think about my future. The time I needed to spend time with my father who was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. The time I needed to bond with my husband and daughter. I was indeed blessed. That was the time I decided to move to North Carolina (NC). This move met my desire to live in a state that was affordable, community driven and most of all, family friendly. My husband and I agreed on this move and were ready to get a fresh start in life.

My family and I moved to North Carolina in July 2016. We moved in with a relative that accepted us with open arms, another blessing. That same month I learned about “The Magic”. That’s when I realized that the law of attraction is stronger than I ever imagined. Throughout the transition between NYC, NJ, and then NC, all the things I desired were manifesting before my eyes, but I had yet to accept this. The Magic had the answers I was searching for. It gave me daily activities to practice gratitude and how it applies to the law of attraction. I learned to be grateful for all I have. It opened my eyes. Yes, I was unemployed, but I had the funds to pay off my credit card debt. I had the means to pay the few bills I had. I had the means to feed my family. I had family that provided shelter for us to sleep in. I was blessed and I knew I was. I was happy. My daughter was happy because I was home. My husband was happy. It was incredible.

October 2016 was the time my husband and I decided to look for employment. In the beginning, I desired a part-time job to provide my family with food and pay the bills. Then a few weeks later realized that I was ready to work with a company doing what I loved which was Marketing and Communications. I applied what I learned from The Secret and The Magic and magical things happened. Just about every job I applied for, I got called for an interview. It was miraculous. I get chills as I write this. In less than four weeks I received an offer for a part-time job. Then before Christmas, my wish manifested. I got an offer for a full-time job doing what I loved, Marketing and Communications.

I’m a believer in the power of attraction. You ask and you will be given. Being grateful and realizing that you are blessed with courage, wisdom, and love creates magical things in life. I saw it happen for me and continue to see it happen. My next desire is a car and it’s amazing how I see the vehicle I want everywhere I look. It’s like the Universe is pulling me closer and closer to it. The most exciting thing is that I got to test drive the vehicle I asked for and will be getting it in a few weeks.
