I got married quite young and imagined my life just as I had seen in those around me; a working mother, taking care of her husband and kids, sacrificing herself to make her family happy. I am a nurturing soul, always looking to lend a helping hand at the cost of foregoing my needs and desires.

At 29 I had an epiphany. I realised as I approached my 30s that I had not done everything I needed to do! I was miserable in my marriage and depressed in my job. I cried myself to sleep every night, and convinced myself that this mess was created by me. My husband and I were always short on money, we liked different things, and we were slowly growing apart.

A friend told me about The Secret, and on a business trip I bought the book and read it on the airplane trip back home. I never imagined then how it would affect my life and change the way I was! It gave me back my positivity and gave me the strength I needed through a separation and divorce.

I did everything right! I convinced myself I would always have money and I could afford anything I wanted; and slowly my financial situation improved. I had always wanted to live a bachelorette type life in a cosy apartment – and I have that now!

The best moment was two months ago, when I was talking to a friend about our jobs. She was upset that she wasn’t paid more, and successfully pulled me down into her black hole. To pull myself out, I helped her write out the following with me: “By this Thursday, we will both get new dream jobs!” She was not convinced but went along with me anyway. The next day I reminded her that we were to hear some “good news” in a few days and that I was excited for the both of us!

Another day passed and I did not get a chance to speak with her. My positive frame of mind never faltered, and by Wednesday I was approached by a colleague who was transferring – and asked if I wanted his job! I could not believe my ears! By Thursday the deal was sealed and his handover to me was to start in two weeks! I had received what I asked for!

I thank my lucky stars every day for the great fortune I have received over the last two years. I have loving friends, a great job, and a supportive family network! Thanks to The Secret, I believe I can create my own destiny! I feel like my old self again, someone who had lost direction, but has now created a new map to follow!

Mr. Right is due any time now at the next destination! He is only a short trip away.
