First of all, let me start off by saying the college I applied to was a foreign university and one of the top 3 in the country. It was a HUGE reach for me and everyone around me was amused at my seemingly pathetic attempt to gain acceptance; I had slacked off for the first two years of my high school career and was left at the bottom of my grade in ranking. I don’t know why I was confident enough to send my application in, but after finding out about The Secret, I truly felt that I could do anything.

For the past two weeks, I purified my mind of negative thoughts. I meditated when I could not sleep at night instead of texting my friends or lingering on Facebook. I e-mailed myself an acceptance letter from the school and read it over and over again as I waited for the real one. The Secret enforces not just affirmative words but actually feeling the emotions, so I pretended I had been accepted for the whole two weeks. I went online and looked at pictures of the campus, imagining that I was rolling around the green hills and walking on the paved roads that would lead me from class to class.

About one hour ago, I received an e-mail. It was my acceptance letter.
