A Single Haircut Changed Everything

Malaysia, SabahI am the captain of Yellow house. I LOVE YELLOW HOUSE and everything in my life!!!
On the first days of sports day, it was really tough. Our athletes did their best for their events. Overall for the first day, we were in third place. I wasn’t that disappointed at the scores, but I started losing hope for us to get to number 1. We had worked too hard, and so we had to win. The gap from our position to 1st was like 40 points plus, and that’s quite a lot. I really felt like giving up.
I talked to my teacher, saying it’s really hard to chase, then he said to me, you’re the captain, only you can decide whether you can make your house win or lose. At first i still felt the same, then I started taking his words seriously.
The next day before the our cheer-leading practice. I went to cut my hair, since it was quite long and really annoying, causing it to fall whenever I sweated. While cutting, I suddenly remembered that I have to feel good so good things will come to me. I started saying in my mind, Thank you that my dancing group is great, my athletes can win and all those kinds of stuff.
After cutting my hair, I felt so great and confident, like I know all good things will come to me. Everything went more than smooth after that, my dancing became so amazing, my team cheered for the athletes with all their might, my athletes won many gold medals. It was like magic. I had become so close with my fellow house members, we’re like family. And every time I bath, I imagine us winning and I even jumped and screamed as if I won while showering.
On the last day of sports day, they announced the winner. And the champion is……..(at this time my female captain cried because she thought we had only got second place – haha) YELLOW HOUSE!!!!! OUR HOUSE!!!! We screamed and jumped and you know, celebrated haha…. I guess it’s all about choosing your thoughts…. The right one, and to win in sports is not just wanting to get number one, but to do your best =) A winner never quits, a quitter never wins
