A Piano for Alyssa

Roy, UTI am a working mom of 4 teenagers
My daughter is a freshman in high school and during the third quarter of this year experienced several illnesses which resulted in her losing some much needed class time to help her get good grades. As a result her grades fell significantly and she was losing confidence in her ability to make it through the year with an even average grade point average. She has 2 older brother’s who breeze through school with little effort and bring home outstanding gpa’s, so it is intimidating for her.
I was wondering what I could do to encourage her not to give up when one day I walked past her room and she was composing a song on a little keyboard we had purchased for her about 3 years ago when she showed some interest in taking piano lessons. This keyboard was only intended to see if she would be really serious about playing. As I heard her making this beautiful composition, I realized what her true inner joy was – music.
I knew she needed a piano. I spoke with her about striking a deal. She would commit to stating out loud that each day would be a great day and focus on keeping on track with her assignments and work. I would commit to get her a piano by her birthday of May 28th. Her face lit up and I could see this would be a truly magnificent thing if I could pull it off. She made the commitment. Now I had to figure out how to get a piano!
At the time, I had just started really focusing and listening to the Secret Audio CD’s. I had no idea how I was going to get a piano. I did not have the money to purchase one. I made my request. I didn’t how it would happen. I just knew that it would. I even made a place in my living room for it.
Last night, April 17th I was over at my best girlfriend’s house. She has a full size digital keyboard piano that has recording capability. She started complaining about how she was so tired of it just sitting downstairs and how it was just collecting dust now because her girls were no longer interested in playing. She told me how she had paid $4,000.00 for it and now just didn’t know what she was going to do with it. …..
“Your wish is my command!”
I couldn’t believe it! I told her about my commitment to Alyssa and she said well then, just take this one. I asked her about price and she said, oh don’t worry about it, we will figure it out later. I was absolutely overwhelmed with gratitude. Everything had worked out better than I could have imagined and faster than I thought it would.
Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!
The look on my daughter’s face last night was priceless.
