After 23 yrs together my partner & I broke up. I was devastated! My daughter and I moved in with a friend, till I could get some balance back in our lives. At this stage I had not heard of the secret. Decided that we would be in our own place within 3 mths. I needed a job and a house, houses in our area are very difficult to rent, with some people I know who had been looking for over 6 mths.

I had absolutely no doubt that I would find one. Within a week of making the decision, 4 houses were offered to me. The house I have now, fulfilled every criteria I had mentally made. Not only did I secure a house but 3 jobs came out of the blue, 2 of them rang me! I now have a job that filled every criteria I listed – well paid, flexible hours, mentally stimulating, a family conscious environment and beautiful work surroundings.

After spending almost every day with my daughter I now had to share her. The times when she was away were terrible. One Friday night after ringing many friends and not finding one at home, I decided that I would just stay home on my own and watch TV or a DVD. That is when I saw Oprah and the secret! Oh my gosh, the next day I immediately went out to find the book having no idea if it was even in our country or not. 5 mins before shop closed I walked in and there it was sitting on the counter. Spent all of the next day reading by myself and for the first time enjoying the time I had to myself.

I realise now that many things that have happened to me over the years are because unknowingly I practised the secret (both good & bad stuff). Now knowing that they are not just one-offs or coincidences, has made me really look at what I want in life. The secret has made my life so much more positive and I am very conscious of any negative thoughts.

Tomorrow I get to do the fun stuff, putting my vision board together and finally finishing a painting I started last yr. There are many things I want, mostly love and happiness for myself and my daughter. I have no doubts this will happen. Money is not a concern of mine but for full independence I have written out a cheque. It is for a considerable amount. Am I being greedy you ask???? No, the amount is totally achievable, I have no doubts. I am finally starting to have direction in my life based on what I want and it is great to feel so positive about things even the people that have hurt me in the past.
