A Job, 2 Promotions, 2 Trips In 1 Year
On Saturday April 15th 2007, I was scheduled to board a flight for South Africa. Life had become unbearable for me in my home country, and as is the norm with Africans these days, I resolved to seek greener pasture in another country. I couldnt afford to travel to Europe or America, so I had to settle for South Africa, where I hoped to find my luck and then move from there later on to somewhere better. When it came to running away from the economic crises, unemployment, corruption, poverty, hopelessness, and frustration, anywhere would do. Of course I had to come up with many schemes to raise the money I needed so badly.
But I missed my plane. The commissioner at the Emigration service at the Airport claimed that my travel documents were suspicious, and that I needed to bring my travel agent. It was Saturday midnight. So I had to go home and wait till Monday. Before the matter was resolved, I had become impatient and frustrated enough to give up the quest.
I had hit rock bottom. I had creditors, enemies, and critics to face. I was a failure. What more did I need before deciding to act? Surrendering was not an option. I had experienced enough misery around me to permit it creep into my future. I had to win or die trying. I opted for a more courageous approach.
I applied for a refund of my flight money, used it as capital, and moved to the town where I had done my University Studies. I was bent on starting a new life, a life in which I was the one in control, a life in which I would have nothing to run away from, a life in which I would be free to have and do and be anything I want. I spent one month indoors with no company except my Bible, The Master Key System, The Science of Getting Rich, and The Message of a Master. During this one month, I redefined who I am, defined my philosophy of life, created my own success formula, decided what I really wanted, and then resolved to work Gods way, i.e. allowing abundance to flow to me rather then fighting and sweating to earn my daily bread.
In June I was called up and offered a lectureship at a Higher Institute of Learning, without applying for it. In August the Deputy Director traveled to the U.S.A on a PhD Scholarship. My Head of Department was promoted to take the place of the Deputy Director and I was appointed new Head of Department. In October the Deputy Director got a government job and I was promoted as Deputy Director. In November I was invited by our partner University in the UK, and while there, I found The Secret book on a bookshelf in a bookstore. It was the only copy.
When I returned to Cameroon, I was fascinated as I read and applied The Secret. I went to the website and read peoples experiences with the Secret. Then I decided that I wanted the DVD as well. In Cameroon we do not use Credit Cards, and the shipping cost was really exorbitant. Then something else happened. While reading The Secret one night, I decided to apply the visualization technique on a near impossibility. I visualized myself on the plane, and guess what? The very next morning, my boss announced to me that I would be going to the UK for a follow-up of our previous mission. It was during this second trip that I bought The Secret DVD from a UK online dealer. I made a deposit into a friends account and then she paid for it using her credit card. I went to the same shop where I had bought the book and was shocked to notice that the Mind Body Spirit shelf from which I had picked that lone copy of The Secret was no longer there at all. So The Secret had come for me in particular.
A failed trip to South Africa, and then a job, two promotions, two high profile trips to the UK, The Secret Book and DVD, and all the goodness that rains upon me on a daily basis. All of these within a space of 12 months. This is beyond magic. I wish there was a phrase more powerful than THANK YOU!
