My story goes back to 1982 when my children were small and there was no work around for me or my husband, so things were not good. I was working part time in the mornings when the children were in school, and my husband was an alcoholic and drank when we couldn’t afford to even survive.

Things got very bad one day when I learned that the company I had bought my TV from had decided to take it back if I couldn’t make the last payment. I was buying it over three years and had tried so hard to pay the last payment, but it just wasn’t happening. There was always something more important. At that time it was our only luxury and the children had gotten used to our lovely TV. It broke my heart to tell them it would have to go back. I asked my family, who pointed the finger at my husband; he was 19 when we married so still growing up.

One day I wrote a letter to God or whoever was listening to me, and told of my predicament. I thought no more about it and I had one week to come up with the payment.

Then one day a letter arrived for Pat my husband. It had inland revenue type envelope, so I brought it to him to open it, and it was a payment, a tax rebate for the exact amount I had asked for – £19, and I can’t remember the shilling amount anymore, but it was exact. I took the cheque from him and told him it was for our TV payment. There was no way I was letting him spend it on alcohol.

I went around to my mother’s and showed off my cheque and told everybody about my letter to God. Faith is a wonderful thing.

Now I’m working in Greenwich market, London, doing tarot readings, and almost every time I see someone who needs to know about The Secret. I tell them to buy it and direct them across the road to Waterstones to buy it. Waterstones know why The Secret is so popular.
