Emails from the Universe...

I was first introduced to The Secret back in 2007 by a colleague, but unfortunately I was in such a negative place back then, after reading a couple of pages I was actually fearful of what reading this book would do to my life! How ridiculous that sounds now! Thankfully it was recommended to me again by a friend a few months ago, and this time I was more than ready to learn!
I bought the book in the first week of this year and it took me only two days to read it. I cannot tell you how happy and excited I felt as I read each chapter, I was almost giddy, and after just the first day of reading it had already made a huge life changing decision.
The paragraph that really hit home for me was by Dr. Joe Vitale:
"The Universe likes speed. Don't delay. Don't second guess. Don't doubt. When the opportunity is there, when the impulse is there, when the intuitive nudge from within is there, act. That's your job. And that's all you have to do."
At the time of reading I was considering leaving my part time job as a Designer to become a Freelance Illustrator full time. I had always wanted to do this for as long as I can remember, but due to financial commitments was reluctant to lose the regular, steady income and kept telling myself I would have to wait until I had enough saved in the bank. I was just too scared to do it, despite my instincts screaming it was the right thing to do.
I had previously been really unlucky in my career, with awful employers, stressful working environments, and multiple redundancies. Deep down I felt like I was being pushed to go it alone, but I was just too fearful of letting myself and my family down.
But after reading that one paragraph I knew I had to do it, and strangely didn't have a shred of doubt, I knew I would be a success!
However, a few days later when I was about to hand in my notice at work, the old doubtful me returned. On the train travelling to work, I had butterflies in my stomach and kept asking myself if I was doing the right thing, maybe I was being rash, selfish, what about money, etc. That was when the Universe stepped in to give me a huge nudge - just as I was about to chicken out of it!
Whilst all these fearful thoughts were racing around my head I glanced down at my iPhone and it said I had 37 new emails. I thought this was very odd, as it was really early in the morning and I had only checked it a few minutes ago and there were none! But when I looked further, all the 'new' emails were actually all emails from... me! They were all emails I had sent to various people over the past 5 YEARS (!), all in my Inbox at the same time, and all of them had the same theme! Every single one of those emails without exception was related to me wanting to leave work and work for myself! The first one I read was one I had sent to a recruitment agency when I had previously been made redundant for the third time. And the first sentence that jumped out at me was, "I think somebody up there is trying to tell me something"! As soon as I read that I got a shiver down my spine (I've got one now writing this!). I was speechless! There were a few more to recruitment agencies (reminding me of how many times I'd been made redundant), there were ones I'd sent complaining about how I disliked working for various bosses, there were ones relating to previous freelance children's book projects I had worked on and loved, but the oldest email was one I had sent way back in 2005 (!) to my current agent, saying how much I wanted to work as a Freelance Illustrator and would they consider representing me! I don't have that email saved anywhere on my computer let alone my phone, I don't even remember sending it as it was so long ago, but there it was as a 'new' email along with all the others appearing in my Inbox all at the same time! I just could not believe it!
I knew then that somebody was trying to tell me that I was doing the right thing and everything was going to be ok. I couldn't stop smiling all day thinking about my messages from the Universe, and handed in my notice without a second thought.
That was two months ago and I cannot believe how busy I am! To think I doubted having enough money to pay the bills! I wrote my desired first year earnings on the blank cheque from The Secret website which seemed so ridiculously out of reach at the time, but I have just worked out my earnings since January and I am actually on track to earning exactly that amount! I am booked up with work until August already and have no doubts whatsoever that this success will continue!
I now own not only The Secret book but also have the DVD and audio book on my iPhone, and use them all the time to remind me to think positively and live a joyous life. I speak about it to anyone who'll listen (and even those who don't want to!) and wanted to share my story with the world to show that The Secret really does work! I read the shared stories on here every day to keep me positive, and the wondrous things that happen to people never fail to amaze me!
I felt so privileged that day to receive such a huge message from the Universe, and am now thankful for all that is good in my life, and enjoy visualising my fabulous future!
