My Personal Miracle
By Bea D.
Growing up, I was an over-achiever. I was talented in almost all aspects of creativity. I could sing well, I could act well, I could draw and paint exceptional portraits, I was an excellent leader among my peers, and I was also in tune with my writing and reading skills.
Needless to say, it didn't take long for my teachers to realize that I had the talent and the brains that made an excellent student. So, I was assigned in different plays, consortiums, symposiums, and various leadership activities.
As my popularity in my school increased, I noticed that it was swerving me the wrong way. My classmates began to talk ill of me. They began to speak of horrible things about me, and soon all the drama came out. I tried to fight for my right to be heard, but it was no use, they continued to badger me with their crude and sometimes defaming way of speaking...
So little by little, I clammed up, and gave in to their negative testimonies. I choked during school plays (which never happens to me!), and I became cynical about almost everything. This made me lose balance of my identity, and my popularity soon became anonymous until I reached the last year of my high school life. I lived with pessimism ever since.
Now that I look at it, I did have a sad high school experience because of the negativity I had. I remember that I had difficulty making friends. I had difficulty getting the grades I wanted. My high school sweetheart sadly left the country for good. The list went on and on...
My mother, who realized that I was already down in the dumps, handed me this book entitled: "The Secret". I read it right away and was engrossed at the fact that all these wondrous things such as positive thinking, gratitude, love, and so on and so forth could change everything! I never realized I was doing everything wrong!
So I utilized the Secret as best as I could. I visualized my high school sweetheart in the plane coming back to Manila, I visualized myself having a better social life - a happier life.
The results were astonishing. In no less than a month, I received word that my high school sweetheart has returned to Manila after about 2 years of separation, and asked for my number. We've been communicating fruitfully ever since.
My grades went up, my social life blossomed, and everything I wanted and needed in life came. Although I didn't enter the college I wanted, I was still accepted in the country's best dentistry university. I maintain a GWA of 1.5 (92%-95%), and am officially eligible for College Scholarship. I have great friends who support me. I am an active leader in my college, and I still have time for myself.
The Secret has worked wonders for me. Even if my story isn't as miraculous as most, it still has changed me in almost every aspect of my life. That is my personal miracle.
I am happy, I am healthy, I am loved, and I am grateful for the life that I am living, all thanks to The Secret.
