An Opening spot for Russell Peters

I have been performing stand up comedy in Toronto for about 5 years. Each year I was getting better and more comfortable on stage.
In the summer of 2009 there was a contest going on in Canada with a Radio station; you upload your stand up routine for a chance to open a show for comedian Russell Peters. The details of the contest stated that the venue wouldn’t be less than 5000 people. That was mind-blowing, considering on average I perform in front of 10- 200 people... most times 10 people at open-mic shows. 5000 people was unimaginable (or so I thought).
Everyday that summer I was jogging 5 km along the same route, and at one spot in my route was this huge hill, which overlooked a huge man-made lake. When I got to the top of the hill, I would stay there for about 15 minutes with my headphones on, listening to ‘Hallelujah’ sung by K.D Lang, and I would Visualize being on a huge stage in front of a huge audience. I did this everyday, during which I kind of forgot about the contest since I had entered so many of them with no success.
Well, about 2 months after the visualizations, I got a call that I had placed 1st and would be opening for Russell Peters at Caesars Casino. It was an incredible experience to say the least...
Thank YOU Rhonda.
