Dollars and Tape

I was a girl who wanted The Secret to work. Praying and hoping that one day I could tell my story. I was always the girl who sat back and watched amazing things happen to other people, and I wanted to be one of those people. It seemed like just boring things happened to me all the time. I wanted something to sink my teeth into.
I asked for The Power for Christmas and put it into action right away. Sometimes it worked for me and others it didn't, and I fell disappointed. Doubt clouded my mind. It was hard for me to focus on feeling rich and feeling wonderfully happy.
I wished and wished and I knew I'd win the lottery. I felt it, it was insane. Then when the day came, I didn't win. And I realized my problem was that I was motivated by the lack of money, not the love of it. I'm still trying to get the hang of it.
A couple days ago, I told myself that Friday's payday (and I'm jobless), and I'm getting a cheque for five grand. I was excited. So, I came home, a sliver of doubt in my mind but I kept pushing it aside. I looked into my mailbox and... nothing.
A couple hours later, my dad comes up from the laundry room and hands me a ten dollar bill. "Found that in your pocket."
I was impressed, it wasn't five grand, but it was a start. Then, a couple hours later, my dad hands me some money. "Here's for your jeans." And he handed me one hundred dollars!
I'm still getting the hang of it, but it works. Don't lose faith. Some days you'll get really down, but you'll shoot right back up again. You'll see.
Also, I recently got a weight-loss program and I was going to start it but I lost the tape that measures your inches. So I was really bummed. I looked every where and couldn't find it. I wasn't focusing on how bad I wanted one, I just knew I'd get another sooner or later in the back of my mind.
Then my dad comes home from the dollar store and said he found one in an abandoned box, all knotted into itself. I didn't even focus on getting another one so soon! I was so surprised.
Anyways, keep the faith. You'll all get your story on here.
