Running My Dream.
Submitted by: Belinda. R.
I am a mum with 5 amazing children and at 16 I was told I was going blind in both eyes. I have a condition called Retinitis Pigmentosia. In the past few years I have also developed cataracts on both eyes so it's become a challenge for me, but, living with The Secret I have managed to stay positive.
In 2014 I was at the Gold Coast in Australia. I was watching the Gold Coast Marathon as a spectator. I stood there thinking to myself how I wanted to run the Marathon. So I went home and trained and saw my self running it. I visualized myself crossing over the finish line. I was so excited that I finished.
I only have 4% vision left in both my eyes as I have Retinitis Pigmentosia. I am going blind but every day I am grateful that I am here to have the lessons and challenges I have had. They have made me to be the best and most inspiring person I can be.
On 5 July 2015 I achieved my dream. I competed in the Gold Coast Marathon and I finished that race! I crossed the line and I ran 21 km while I could hardly see.
