How I Got My Dream Job.

Washington, DCSpiritual rather than religious, but definitely believe in a higher power.
I decided to return to school and change careers in my late 40’s. Two years after graduating from college, I finally got what I thought was my dream job. Two months later, I was let go because it was clear I wasn’t a good fit. Needless to say, I was devastated and humiliated. I could not return to my old job because my replacement had already been hired. So I went on unemployment and signed on with several temporary employment agencies. My mother also helped me financially. I am so blessed that she was willing and able to do so, but it was embarrassing because I never had to take money from her before in my entire adult life. Nine months and a few temporary jobs after I was fired, things started looking up when I secured a temp to perm job that paid me enough money to live on, but no benefits like health insurance. I was grateful to have it, but I needed something permanent that paid more money and provided health insurance.
In July 2015, 16 months after I lost my job, I bought a copy of “The Magic” by Rhonda Byrne. I had read The Secret a few years ago but did not put the principles to practice. But there was something about “The Magic” that spoke to me, and I bought it and eagerly read it cover to cover. When I started doing the daily exercises, miraculous things started happening. On the third day, I received a call from a job I applied for to come in for an interview. Within two weeks, I got the job, and I was only half way through the 28 days of exercises!! Even better, this job was my dream job. It was in my field, and I got everything I asked for and then some: a salary that paid me more money than I thought possible, excellent benefits, and best of all, a wonderful boss and co-workers who treat me and each other with kindness and respect.
I pinch myself every day because I can’t believe my good fortune. I genuinely love going to work every day, and I thank the Universe every day for my good fortune. I credit “The Magic” with turning my life around 180 degrees. Bless you, Rhonda Byrne!
